Some students believe accessing a library’s databases to be the most difficult part of conducting research. They have to find the correct database (or sometimes multiple databases), then search for their research topic, and may even need to log into multiple accounts.
Throughout college, I remember struggling with accessing library’s online databases at The University of Michigan. The user experience was not as smooth as many consumer focused databases, and inevitably I’d access the databases that only allowed me to search the content, while not actually enabling me to access the full-text document. I would often then turn to other less authoritative online sources because they were easier to access.
But, Boopsie’s new EBSCOhost integration changes that experience for all libraries that use our mobile app platform for their library-branded apps. Students will be able to access all of the EBSCOhost resources that your library subscribes to, without leaving your library app or downloading another app. The new integration is easy-to-use, and allows students to research from their smartphones or tablets.
The new seamless experience is fully integrated into your library’s branded mobile app, which means your students and patrons will receive the same experience browsing your EBSCOhost resources as they would your catalog. It is a powerful, user-rich experience that will help keep students using authoritative, library validated research resources, instead of random blogs on the Internet.
Searches can be configured to search only certain databases, or for specific titles, keywords or subjects -the default searches across all databases and fields of text. The EBSCOhost integration automatically configures to the databases your library subscribes to.
Once a search is configured and performed, the app user simply selects the articles they want to view.
Upon selecting a title, an embedded PDF reader is launched, which allows the app user to read both PDF and full-text HTML articles in the app as well.
Add the EBSCOhost Integration for Free!
Through October 31, 2014, we are providing all interested libraries with a free EBSCOhost integration. Libraries simply need to contact their Account Manager and let them know they want to add the EBSCOhost integration!
If you are interested in learning more about the EBSCOhost integration as well as other EBSCO product integrations we offer, you can view a recording of the EBSCOhost webinar on our Customer Webinar page.
